Plastics manufactured from plants. May or may not be biodegradable.

 

Oxo degradable

Also known as photodegradable, these are plastics that depend on the sun to degrade. These may also be biodegradable.

 

Compostable

Plastics that are broken down by microbial activity under industrial composting conditions.

 

Biodegradable

Plastics that will degrade in the soil under certain conditions. Used primarily for plastic mulch.
